The Commitment

A homeowner researching a remodel should not be shut out of this site by a design decision we made. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA.

What Is Built In

• Text and background colours are tested for contrast rather than eyeballed, and no body text on this site is smaller than 14 pixels.
• Every page can be operated by keyboard alone, and the element you are on is always visibly marked.
• Nothing on this site requires a hover to reach. Every control works by touch.
• Photographs carry descriptive alternative text, and images that are purely decorative are hidden from screen readers rather than announced as clutter.
• The site respects your operating system setting for reduced motion. Turn it on and the scroll animations resolve to their finished state instead of moving.
• Layouts are built to reflow, so the site works zoomed in and on a phone without side-to-side scrolling.

Where We Are Not There Yet

The scroll-driven opening on the home page is an animation, and although it can be operated by keyboard and is disabled entirely under a reduced motion setting, it is the most complex interaction on the site and the most likely to cause difficulty. If it does, every page it leads to is reachable directly from the navigation.

Video content, once added, will need captions. Until it has them, it will not be published.
